windows mail hangs freezes tools advanced tab sel

Windows Mail hangs (freezes) when Tools, Advanced Tab is sel

As soon as the Advanced Tab is selected it freezes. Task Manager says it is waiting for a reply, which isn't true.
Any ideas or is it a bug?
Thank you.

I've tried a number of things to bring the Tools, Options, Advanced Tab back into play but I can't solve it. Even tried the 'old' SFC /SCANNOW which isn't fully operational in Beta 2.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Well, if you want to play, you can try deleting this key in the registry (back it up first) and see what happens. It doesn't get populated until WinMail starts and deleting it might repopulate it and might fix the issue.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Mail
If it breaks then restore the backed up key and see if it goes back to what it was.
You can also try wiping out the message store and seeing if that makes a difference.

Thanks for replying.
I don't mind removing a registry key if it will cure the problem. There is something screwy about my WM, for instance the font is larger and bolder than the rest of Vista's windows text. Is yours the same?
I wish there was a way to repair, or uninstall/reinstall, Vista's WM as per the various methods in XP for OE.

I don't know of any repair, other than SFC.
I don't have the problems you are describing so it could be a bad install.

I've just restored to a previous point and all is well. Incidentally, SFC /SCANNOW (capitals for clarity) doesn't work in the same way as WinXP. I haven't delved into it in any great detail but a filename has to be specified.
Thank you for replying.

My understanding is that SFC doesn't really do anything in Beta 2.
